.  Jefrie Susan Edwards received her masters in clinical psychology in 1981 from Antioch University. This was after earning California teaching credentials and a B.A. in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College in 1979, as well as becoming certified in Parent Effectiveness Training and Creative Journal Instruction. She has directed Family Healing Arts sense then.
She received her Art Therapy Registration in 1993 after internships with The UCLA Cancer Research Project in Holistic Medicine at The Wellness Community/Center for the Healing Arts, and Cedars Sinai Medical Center Therapeutic Preschool; with emphasis in family systems, behavioral issues, and psycho-oncology.
Jefrie wrote and produced The Serenity Subliminal Motivational Tape Series and Affirmations for recovery in 1984 and published in Eating Disorders Foundation of Ca. Newsletter, and Steps to Recovery Magazine in Los Angeles in 1983.
In 1991, Jefrie was invited to give a video presentation of art therapy treatment modalities with Power Places Tours, Healing in the New Millennium, in Bali Indonesia. Jefrie has served staff, clients and patients in various psychiatric, rehab, counseling, group homes, treatment centers, skilled nursing, hospice, and medical settings in southern California.
Jefrie is currently serving the community of North County San Diego as Children's Bereavement Coordinator for Tri City Hospice and Medical Center in Oceanside Ca. Her program there brings healing through creativity to grieving children and families, with art therapy groups and staff and parent education in public and private schools, as well as to families challenged with illness. This program is from a beautiful grant called Heart To Heart by the Tri City Hospital Foundation. |
